Alright, I have three questions Oops!
1 - How do you give this watercolor overall feeling to the artwork??
2 - How are your brushes settings? They seems more like SAI instead of PS, and that is cool!
3 - Because of the speed of the video, I was unable to understand the use of the perspective grid. Can you explain to me the why and the how?
Thank you, sorry to bother you No, I disagree!  But this artwork is AMAZING, I'm really falling in love with it and it's not an everyday event for me Clap Clap Clap

Hello! I'm glad you liked this one! And no worries, I love answering questions. Please don't hesitate to ask. :)

1. Neat to hear that the style reminds you of watercolours. I've never consciously tried to emulate any traditional medium with digital, but rather my "style" is a sum of studying directly from life and learning from the old masters. I also tend not to use any brushes with a lot of texture but rather prefer ones that produce quite flat patches of colour which might be a contributing factor to the watercolourly feeling. Thanks for sharing your observation! :)

2. As I mentioned I use brushes with quite flat patches of colour and often just 4 of them in total. One with a bit harder edge, one with quite soft edge, and then this soft dry brush of sorts (especially for foliage) and the regular airbrush. They are not my own either but collected from various brush packages. I think some of them are from Bumskee, you can find his package here: digitalbrushes.tumblr.com/post…

3. I am copypasting an answer here from another comment:

I used a tool by Epic games called Carapace. It is absolutely amazing piece of software. You can get it from here:

epicgames.com/community/2012/1…

Some quick tips regarding it: You can bring the help menu up by pressing F1. When you copy the grid to Photoshop you can get rid of the white space between the grid by going to the grid layer's blending options and from there adjust the "this layer" slider.

In regards to why: I basically had a bunch of structures that had two vanishing points. I set up the horizon line roughly at the eye-level and went on from there. This is pretty good in-depth look at how perspective works: www.artyfactory.com/perspectiv…

Hopefully you found the answers useful! If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask. :)

Have a good weekend!

Well, thank you very much! I'm definitively using Carapace, it's amazing and is going to cut off some of the SketchUp cubes and planes that I usually use as a perspective reference. And I also thank you for letting me know another amazing artist, ghaaaahhhh :happybounce:

No worries! I am really glad to hear you found the answer useful. :) SketchUp is an amazing tool for sure. I especially use it for rounded forms such as cylinder shaped buildings and when calculating receding pillars for example.

Have a good week!
